Sony Playstation Network Back Online - 15th May 2011

Was this review helpful? If so, Tweet this link!

Hey guys! In case you haven't heard, Sony's Playstation Network (PSN) is now finally back online as of the 15th May.

It's been almost 4 weeks since the PSN was down, and now Sony is starting the process of progressively restoring the PSN on a country by country, and region by region basis, beginning from the US, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

Although there has been no specific times as to when the process will be completed, it is expected that the PSN will be fully restored with the next week or two.

Things to do before first using the service:

Prior to being able to start playing games online, PSN users are required to download and upgrade their firmware, which is suppose to enhance data security.

This will also force current PSN users to change the password to their PSN accounts. This has to be done on the original PS3 console that your account was activated on. Otherwise, you will have to follow through process via email account confirmation. And once your password is changed, you can then resume their online gaming as per normal.

Preliminary compensations:

Currently, Sony has announced that it's PSN users will get 30 days of PSN plus service for free, while current subscribers will get an additional 30 days for free.

Sony will also be giving PSN users two PS3 games, and two PSP games for free, from a selection of four or five.

In addition, Sony will be giving players for particular games free trophies, awards, and in-game cash which may or may not matter depending on what types of games you play.

Conclusions:

Now I'm interested to know what is the first thing that you guys will be doing once you have signed-in to your PSN account? Are there any particular games you look forward to playing or would you still be hesitant to go back online at this moment? Let me know what you think about the whole thing down in the comments below.  And make sure to subscribe so you can get posted on the latest tech news and reviews. Thank you for watching and I will see you guys next time!
